What to Expect from a Senior Session

The first thing you need to do is to decide what type of pictures you want. Do you want and indoor session, an outdoor session, or do you want both? You need to think of a location for your outdoor shoot. It could be a park, your own yard, the beach, or somewhere special in you home town. If you choose to do a beach shoot, it needs to be done in the morning around 8 or 9 am. Or, if it happens to be a cloudy day, anytime will work. You have to remember you may be dealing with wind, sun in your eyes, or even colder weather. Each session will take aproximately an hour and a half. Many photos may be taken, but that doesn't mean that all the proofs are shown. Generally you can expect 40 proofs from each session. Often I'm asked where a specific picture is. I use my own disgression to decide which proofs will be shown, and which ones won't. I base that decision on composition, expression, blinking, or basically if its flattering to you. Any sessions that go over a two hour period will be charged according to the time. Also mileage is a factor, so you need to enquire if you are more than a 15 mile radius from DeMotte. I'm willing to go anywhere for photos, but mileage has to be a consideration. Also, to go to the pavillion at the Dunes, there is a 5.00 charge to get in the gate FYI. If you would like to bring a friend with to your session you are more than welcome to do that. Sometimes its helpful, because it seems we always trust the opinions of our friend! If you have questions regarding senior shoots just call. Try to plan your outfits ahead of time, and know which ones you want to wear for your outdoor shoot, and the ones for your indoor shoot. Think of accessories too. Hats, jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, and anything that pertains to what you've done during your highschool years, or anything that reflects your own personal style can be used in your photos. Anyway, just a few tips! Also, don't try a new hairstyle the day of photos. Chances are, you won't like it! Headbands, and scarves may also be good for you senior girls. Chunky jewelry also photographs nicely. So good luck, and give me a call to book your senior session. Prices are on the second page of the blog. Its time for you 2009 seniors to get going on your photos....especially if you're wanting beach and outdoor pictures.

16x20 print

Just a sample of some things that can be done with multiple photos. Border can be any color to match the photos and your decor. Frames available on request.
Finished collage 16x20 priced at $85.00.

FYI

Anyone contemplating outdoor family photos, may want to think about the month of May and the beginning of June. In my opinion, Hamstra Gardens is at its best during these times. The flowers are amazing, and there are so many varieties in bloom. Something to think about!
